About Funtalia
In third grade, I created a country called Funtalia. It was an island nation located in the middle of the Hot Tamale Ocean - can you guess what my favorite candy was at the time? The climate was mild year-round so locals typically wore swimsuits and hula skirts, but there was snow in the mountains to accommodate skiers. Couldn’t be better, right? Exactly.
Here I attempt to blend my expertise gained from my former time as a teenager with the new experiences and insight I have acquired through becoming an adult. I have nothing to prove. I don’t want to be a teenager; I’m very happy with where I’m am right now. I just thought - since I don’t really feel like leaving childish things behind quite yet - maybe I could offer a more savvy perspective on teen/tween life while I still care about it. Besides, all the drama aside, teenage life and interests are just a little more fun than the day to day of the average grown-up. Thus, Funtalia has once again become the perfect place for the occasional escape.
So please, pull up a lounge chair and come bask on the shore of the Hot Tamale Ocean with me.
